Starting a Home Business

The location is one of the main things you need to think about when starting a home business, that is, in the traditional sense of a home business. So maybe the business that you are thinking of starting can be referred to as a locally owned and operated business. Locally owned and operated businesses are often highly regarded, as they tend to help local economies. Although this will automatically give you a little bit of an edge above your larger competition, you will need to do a little bit more to get your business noticed. And this usually entails spending money on advertising - especially at first so you can get the word out about your business.

A good way to advertise for a local business used to be in a newspaper or flyers, but in starting a home business in this age of the Internet, it would be a good idea to use Internet marketing even for a local lousiness. When it comes to using the Internet to help with advertising or marketing, there are many owners who would wonder exactly how the Internet can help them, especially when they do not run an online business. Despite what you may believe, the Internet can actually help you and your business out in more ways that you could ever imagine. You need to be seen as a business by people all around where you live, and the Internet is great for that.

You can target your ads by region so as to maximize your advertising dollar. And when using the Internet, you don’t have to sell your products or your services online, if you don’t want to. This may be something that you may want to look into at another point in time. For now, however, since you are starting a home business you need to get information about your business out to the public. Since many consumers use the Internet to research the products that they buy or services that they need to pay for, even if they don’t plan on buying them online, the Internet is a great way to get your business noticed. So people will search for something, then see that a store right in their own neighborhood sells exactly what they want.

Sometimes the little banner ads or classified ads are not enough to get enough exposure when you are starting a home business. So if you are interested in using the Internet to help you advertise your business, consider building your own website. If you are only interested in making your website an informational one, like a website that has information on your business, what your business offers, as well as your local hours, you will only need to purchase a small web hosting package, as your website doesn’t need to take up a lot of space. Even if you are just creating a simple informational website for your home business, it is still advised that you try and keep it professional in nature. If you are unfamiliar with HTML and web design, consider hiring the services of a professional web designer. Many of them are very good at their job and know what works and what to stay away from.

Personally, I would like to see more professionalism on the Internet, and a lot less sales hype. If we all strive for honest, ethical business practices, the Internet will become a safe place to conduct our business. Take a little time to have a look at a new type of business model that I came across some months ago. It is not get rich, but it is one that I will be with for the long haul. It's All About the Leads Written by - Corie Wallace - Marketng Strategy Specialist December 5, 2008 "Marketing on Google is a tough gig. You have got to become very savvy in your education to learn everything that there is to know about leads, lead generation and leads generating systems. Your competition is making every effort to accomplish this, so unless you are willing to set your mind to working, then you will fall short of your goals in the home business market." - Butch Hamilton- SEO Master and successful Internet Entrepreneur Internet Leads are no longer being used by just Internet Businesses. The competition has tightened as brokerage firms in this volatile economy seek as many alternative sources as possible to grow their businesses, leads and prospects. These are the professional salesmen calling the same leads you are buying, only they have the time and the resources to do it better and faster than you. These firms can purchase mass amounts of leads and generate conversions at a rate far more successfully for some very obvious reasons. They are the professionals, they get paid to do it, if they fail they don't succeed and if they don't succeed at conversions, they don't get paid. Brokers primarily get paid on 100% commission, if they don't close, they don't survive. How does the average Network Marketer compete with these firms? Lets look at what a typical brokerage firm would do before choosing to do business with a particular leads service. To ensure they receive high quality Internet leads that they will invest in, brokers find and work closely with reputable lead providers. This requires a lot of research and monitoring and the full resources of their companies. Brokers then start to identify what types of leads they are interested in receiving leads for and then search and obtain the services of a leads provider that is most qualified to provide and supply them that specific type of leads. These types of leads cost far greater than you, the typical Network Marketing lead seeker is willing to spend. The next step in their process is to contact the leads providers they are interested in and ask them these specific questions: How are your leads generated? Who else would receive the same leads I would? How many companies receive those leas at the same time? Does the company recycle leads from others? Every Network Marketing lead seeker asks themselves these very questions, unfortunately it is after they have made a 150 phone calls and a 150 rejections. None of these calls had any interest in what you were offering, hardly a quality Business Opportunity lead. Brokerage firms have the luxury of an additional step. Once they have selected their leads provider, brokers customize the filtering process so they obtain only those leads suitable for their market and be most likely to close. Their research process is ongoing and they monitor the performance of these business opportunity lead. They have the resources manpower and employees to ensure that this process takes place. If they find a leads service provider has under performing leads, they simply replace them with high performing lead service providers. In order for you the Network Marketing leads seeker, to learn to generate your own leads. You would then have all the questions answered, avoid the rejecting and expense, and have a pipeline full of high quality, targeted and exclusive leads for your business opportunity. Home Based Business Advice Advice for setting up or up-grading your home based business: One important consideration is having a location in your home that is dedicated to your home based business. You can use this as a tax write off, which includes a % of square footage and then divides that up for a percent of heat, lights, water, etc. but the space must be for you home based business only. So if you do not have a room, then mark out an area that is Business ONLY to keep our friendly tax person happy. Install a phone line dedicated to your home based business. Decide on an answering service and in most cases it is required to have a 1-800 number for someone to take you seriously. Organize your work space with great care. Make sure that you have sufficient space to meet your needs. Have what you need within reach and an excellent filing system as well as backup system for your PC. If needed for your type of business, when scheduling appointments with clients, consider meeting at your client's office or renting a conference room to maintain a professional image. Or learn the new up to date technology of conferencing on the computer. It is fairly easy and not expensive if you use the right services. Keep excellent records of entertainment and travel expenses. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tends to audit home based businesses more frequently—especially when they are writing off a variety of expenses, including the percentage of the mortgage or rent for your office space. There are several good record keepers such as Day Timer®, Franklin Quest® and Day Planner that will help you keep track of your expenses. Use of an accountant or a CPA is recommended and can advise you on deductions you can take and records you must keep for the IRS. Talk with them before or early on in your business so that you are starting your record keeping off on a good track. Set up an LLC so that your home assets and banking are completely separate from your home based business. It is easy and inexpensive for a lawyer to do it for you. Well worth the security. Open a Business Banking account with your business name LLC on the checks. As soon as possible also get two credit cards with your business name LLC Set up a SAVINGS ACCOUNT for your home based business, remember keep it in a business LLC account. Build it up because when you least expect it, you will need it. Develope your computer system, proper programs and decide who will handle your repairs and help as you need it. Check out their service and if possible talk to referrals. Do NOT just trust the Big Computer Stores to be there for you. You are usually not a person to them, just a broken piece of equipment and you go into the 'Q'. Trust me; a good computer person on your team is worth their weight in Gold. A good 2nd PC lap top that can multi task can be a life saver. Discipline yourself. You must be a self-starter and follow a routine, just as if you were working for any other business. In many cases, you are the only person you can rely on to get the job done. Unless it's an emergency, do not baby-sit or chat with your neighbors. There are literally thousands of people entering into a Home Based Business due to the sagging economy, massive business layoffs, and whole industries vanishing as work moves overseas. Families are needed in the past a second income for those little extras; families now need a steady income they can count on. I strongly suggest diversification (never put all your eggs in one basket). Now it is time to look at a business …. Might I suggest you look at Its Good Business. It is solid, easy to work with (notice I didn't say you don't need to work) but we do work on a TEAM basis and you have a mentor to help you firm up how you want to work your internet Home Based Business. This is a very flexible business giving you many ways to make a good income and have freedom to be with your family and friends. Home Based Business Advice 62
Starting A Home Based Business If you are starting a home based business opportunity, especially for the first time, here is something that you should be aware of before getting started. The majority of all attempted home based business opportunities fail! Why? For most people, it is not really their fault. There is a fairly large learning curve that is involved. Most people do not have a degree in sales or marketing, talking to people on the phone, creating web sites, etc. etc. whatever, whatever! There is just so much you need to learn when you get involved with any work from home business. Usually, their is some start up capital that is needed. Do you have the needed funds to put into your home based business? Very seldom does anyone make money when they are first beginning. This alone makes the majority of those working a business opportunity to get frustrated and give up. Did you know that if you had a brick and mortar type business, for most owners it takes at least three years to get into profit? This of course depends on the type of business and the location. If you are starting a home based business, same deal. That is the way you have to think. You should be pouring any money made back into the business to nurture it and help it grow. Time! You need to be dedicated to your business and put in the needed hours every day for training and self growth. You also need to get into a routine as far as working your work from home business daily. If you can do the above on a consistent basis, starting a home based business could be the most rewarding thing you have ever done. Those who can make it through the growing pains will succeed. Remember...never give up!! Good Business! Jim Eberle Tripower Team

Business opportunity owners look for free or low cost places to advertise their home based businesses. some good places to look at when looking for such a place are free ad blasters and classified ad sites. free ad blasters are a great place to advertise a business opportunity, usually you just plug in your website url and a title and blast away, some of the owners that host the sites where the ad blaster post to will allow you to place your ad on there, in exchange for your email address. Free classified site owners usually require the same information in order to post an ad there. For advertising your business opportunity it may be benefitial to look for classified ad sites where the ads are permenent or at least will stay online for some period of time. Premium Links Directory You also may want to think about putting your url into a link directory to get some exposure from traffic as well as from the search engines.
