Everyday something changes, in fact most everything changes every day…. Are you? We have moved from the horse and buggy era; its the internet revolution for home business. No need to drive for hours each day to and from work. A Home Business helps you to save time but also leaves a lighter footprint, less damage to the environment with unnecessary use of oil. I love my 2 minute commute! Home Business opportunities have been desired and still are desired by many forward thinking people. But some of the systems used to get financial independence and freedom of time for family and fun just plain do not work!
Nearly everything MLM and Networking companies offer are outdated with the technical age we live in! The old (and in many MLMs the only) system was to have a hopefully decent product, get folks all jazzed up and then teach them the fine art of duplication. Follow me , Do as I do and you will be a success.
So here is how the old MLMers told you to create your Home Business:
Make a list of all your friends and family (not to concern yourself with the reality that shortly they will duck and cringe when they see you coming. Pick up the telephone; yes that 900 pound telephone and call everyone you know to ask to come show them the newest, the best, the most awesome deal that they cant live without. Or better yet, talk them into coming to a meeting. ugh!
Be prepared to stock a lot of product and carry inventory so you can teach them to do the same thing, and so on and so on and so on. That will help to increase your (but primarily your up lines) income.
Yes, the caveat; they will be independently wealthy in only 6 months or so.
Well the chosen few who had extremely good connections to begin with or those that worked so hard that they often sacrificed their families and even their values to climb over others to the top showed the big bucks. It saddens me when I think back of the good people who had their families and marriages fall apart as the dream was chased. Duplication just does NOT work if that is all that you offer someone. It is a recipe for failure for your home business if that is the way you go.
So what is recommended? Its easy to complain and moan about the old days but what about now. NOW we are in a computer revolution with the amount of sales done through the internet is sky rocketing with no end in sight.
The first rules to success:
Work with a team and company that have a proven track record and a willingness to help you achieve your goals, not just increase theirs. Remember your home business must make a profit.
For your Home Business, develop a business plan and stick to it. It is far too easy to become a training junkie (one who spends all their time in on-line training sessions) Find a mentor or two in the company that you respect and are willing to help you. Listen to their advice and keep with the plan. Learn one thing and learn it well, then go onto the next. Before you know it you will have created a profitable internet home business.
Use portal marketing as a valuable asset to its particular market. Each portal is designed to put your traffic into the main stream of Internet culture. It builds a large and diverse portfolio of services and sites, thus your sphere of influence grows exponentially within the expanding market of the internet.
Use various other high powered submission tools, submitting to 2 billion ads at a time AND never do any spamming. Use STRONG spamming controls. The system should be self monitoring.
Teams are the way to go, find one that utilizes a business model of DELEGATION, not duplication. We as individuals do not have all the skills needed to create a successful home business. Develop a relationship with a mentor that will assist you in choosing a Home Business that has a good chance of leading you to success. We are all different. We have different interests, skills, time commitments, health issues, etc. So Teams make sense.

This is a genuine home business opportunity as long as you make sure that it is legitimate and not a Ponzi scheme. MLM is called multi-level because it allows you to make money not only from your own sales, but also from the sales of other people under you, people you have recruited to do the selling of a direct selling company. They in turn recruit more people to do the same and pretty soon, you are making money from all these new folks.
Now many people are turned off by MLM or network marketing because of a perception problem. If you stop and looked at traditional businesses, you would actually see that those business models have many of the same characteristics. Although we don't want to admit it, but most people work in a multi level type organization and don't even realize it. Think about that statement for a minute. Every time your company sells a product or service, many people in the company are getting compensated for that sale. In other words, multiple people in various levels are getting paid.
The real and legal MLM enterprises pay you a commission on every sale, but not on people you bring to the group. However, they do allow you to earn an additional commission on what they, the new people, have sold. So, if you are really energetic and consistent, you'll reach a point where you just sit at home and collect from the work of others. I know it sounds too good to be true. Imagine a genuine, legal and profitable home based business opportunity that will allow me to retire in the near future while I am still young. OK, so it's not that easy, so here are a few tips to keep in mind while evaluating a network marketing company.
1. Carefully pick a product that you are familiar with.
2. Check the list of MLM companies that offer the product to make sure they are legitimate in every way.
a. Avoid brand new companies; go for those that have been in business several years (Preferably with 5 or more years). That tells you that they are probably quite legitimate.
b. Try to talk to existing distributors in your area (Google search). They can give you valuable information about the company.
c. Check and see if you can find customers testimonials.
3. Read the conditions very carefully before agreeing to start selling.
4. Investigate in your immediate environment whether the product has a market at the price offered by the MLM company.
5. Make a detailed list of every friend and acquaintances who might be interested in joining your team (Don't include your immediate family unless they live 100 miles or more from you).
6. Make sure the MLM offers training and support (Most reputable companies do).
7. A good company will give you leads, that is people who are interested in buying the product in your area.
8. Again, the good MLM company already has a national marketing campaign, which means it has brand recognition, an important factor when you try to convince a client.
By far, the best home based business opportunity with the least financial risk is network marketing. The start up costs are minimal, however, the payoff can be substantial provided you are willing to invest the required time and energy to become successful. There are no short cuts to success. Have you ever wanted to start a home based business? Do you know how to develop a passive residual income or start a home business? Why do you want a home based business? These are important questions you must ponder and give some thought to. How do I get started or where do I go to learn about all this stuff? If you are reading this, I hope its because you wish to build a peaceful residual income and take control of your life.
From all that I have learned, read and observed over the past 10 years in the network marketing profession, successful people have 3 common traits that they have to build a solid passive residual income.
Those 3 elements are:
(1) A big Why
(2) Heart
(3) Being Coachable
Without those 3 elements as a foundation, everything else doesnt matter in my opinion. You see - those 3 critical traits sets the stage for building a successful home based business and going through the ups and downs of creating a residual income. One must seriously consider their Why because it will require they invest 10-15 hours a week over the next 3 to 5 years minimum if they want a solid home business. If its only for the money, they will not last because money at some point in the future will not be the driving force to building a passive residual income. Your why is your core desire about why you want to invest so much time in a home based business and what is it that you truly want out of life. For example, it could be to have your significant other home with the kids on a full time basis. It could be to have a better quality of life for your family, taking an extra vacation, purchasing a new vehicle or all of the above.
In other words, is your why big enough to push you through those challenging times when your business is not going so well or its late at night and your tired in need of some sleep. Successful people have a big why and are willing to forgo some sleep, invest some extra time away from the family to get the business going. By the way, to have a successful home based business and develop a residual income, you will sacrifice some time with your family. Its simply not possible to work full time, develop a home business and devote the same time to your family. Im not suggesting this will last forever, but your why needs to be important enough that you understand the reason you are doing this home based business. Its because you want a better quality of life.
The second element is you need to truly care about helping others succeed and having a heart. Help enough people get what they want and you will in time achieve your level of success in a home based business. If you are only in this for yourself, good luck. Over the years I have seen many people fail in our business who didnt fully understand the truth in that line. They felt they didnt need the Personal Growth material, all they needed were the mechanics, and the Nuts & Bolts, scripts etc and they would just do it. With a touch of arrogance perhaps they just felt they knew all about that stuff and were above taking the time to learn how to become more every day.
Leaders are readers and understand that nobody is ever finished that journey. That one major quality of all real leaders is that they constantly are working upon themselves to be better and more each day. Remember, this is a people business and you need to invest time in people and develop a relationship over the long term to create a truly successful home based business and have a solid residual income in network marketing.
The third element and perhaps one of the most important is how coachable are you. Our business is a People Business. We are in the business of attracting quality people and helping them enhance their lives by enhancing the lives of others. If you are the type of person that knows it all, good luck again. It doesnt hurt you to let someone else help you be successful in your home based business. I learned this from a very good friend and my coach Cameron Howard. We used to butt heads a lot many years ago and still do some days, but I can truly say without hesitation that I have learned so much from him and am very thankful that he invested time with me. A good coach and mentor will be your roadmap, invest time in you and help you become successful to the best of their abilities.
We must be coachable to attract other people that are also coachable. As we grow into a stronger position of leadership, we develop the skills to coach the coaches to coach the coachable. Everybody is always a Leader-In-Training and remains so.
So, are you coachable? Take a moment and look at the results in your life to date and ponder where you may have been more trainable and thus more successful. Perhaps you have read all those books and feel you know better. If you attract others just like yourself, and you will are they going to succeed with their present attitudes and philosophies? Experience has proven to us that only those that are truly coachable grow into positions of leadership. All leaders are fully aware that they must first be followers and remain open minded to learning more always. Does that describe you?
A good coach and mentor, is about being a friend and creating a relationship, realizing it just takes time. Respect is earned. If we do not invest time in people we will not be successful, thus we will not be able to develop a solid residual income or have a successful and long lasting home based business. The secret is to develop the skill to know who best to invest our time with. People are an intangible thing. It takes time to truly get to know another person and even at that we only know most people somewhat. To further complicate matters, there is no way to know beforehand just who is going to be successful. There is no way to truly be sure if a persons desire to BE Free is so strong that they will go through the obstacles on the path to success. Many people enter our home business with a ton of people handling skills, leadership experience, family needs etc, in short, all that one would think they need to be tremendously successful and they never do a thing. Others, with little experience etc just go out and do it because they want it so bad they will pay the price to learn the skills necessary to succeed.
There is no proven way to measure the Right Stuff of a person until they are actually in the field doing it. There are leading indicators that suggest the potential is there however. These take time to ascertain and become aware of. It cant be done effectively and consistently in a 5 or 10 minute conversation. It just takes time to get to know people and for them to get to know us. If you want a solid home based business and a solid residual income, realize you need to invest time in people, develop respect for each other and be a friend.
All of the skills needed to build a peaceful residual income are learnable. Every single person reading this document can BE another success story and have a solid home based business. Everybody!

One important consideration is having a location in your home that is dedicated to your home based business. Develope your computer system, proper programs and decide who will handle your repairs and help as you need it. Check out their service and if possible talk to referrals. Do NOT just trust the Big Computer Stores to be there for you. You are usually not a person to them, just a broken piece of equipment and you go into the 'Q'. Trust me; a good computer person on your team is worth their weight in Gold. A good 2nd PC lap top that can multi task can be a life saver.
Discipline yourself. You must be a self-starter and follow a routine, just as if you were working for any other business. In many cases, you are the only person you can rely on to get the job done. Unless it's an emergency, do not baby-sit or chat with your neighbors.
There are literally thousands of people entering into a Home Based Business due to the sagging economy, massive business layoffs, and whole industries vanishing as work moves overseas. Families are needed in the past a second income for those little extras; families now need a steady income they can count on. I strongly suggest diversification (never put all your eggs in one basket).
